Terms of Service

Welcome to Big E Notary. By accessing or using our website at www.bigenotary.com or engaging our notary services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

Big E Notary is owned and operated by Eric Mehl ("Big E"), a commissioned Texas notary public based in Fort Worth, Texas.

1. Services

Big E Notary provides mobile in-person notarization within Greater Tarrant County and surrounding areas, and remote online notarization (RON) for signers anywhere permitted by Texas law. Services include, but are not limited to, loan signings, real estate closings, estate planning documents, general notary work, and business document notarization.

Notaries public are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice. If you need legal advice about a document, please consult a licensed attorney. Big E Notary can only perform notarial acts — witnessing signatures, administering oaths, and verifying identity — as authorized under Texas law.

2. Appointments and Scheduling

Appointments may be booked online through our booking partner (CloseWise), by phone, or by text. Bookings are confirmed once you receive a confirmation from Big E Notary.

  • Cancellations: Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Last-minute cancellations (less than 2 hours before the appointment) may be subject to a trip fee for in-person appointments if Big E has already begun travel.
  • No-shows: If a signer is not available at the agreed time and location, a trip fee may apply.
  • Right to decline: Big E Notary reserves the right to decline any assignment that falls outside legal or ethical bounds, including situations where the signer does not appear to understand the document or does not have valid identification.

3. Signer Requirements

To have a document notarized, every signer must:

  • Present a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or equivalent).
  • Appear personally before the notary — in person or via secure video for RON signings.
  • Be of sound mind and not under duress.
  • Sign the document in the notary's presence (do not sign before the appointment).

If these requirements cannot be met, Big E Notary cannot complete the notarization and may charge a trip fee for in-person visits already underway.

4. Fees and Payment

Fees are listed on our Services page and are subject to change. The fees for a specific appointment will be confirmed at the time of booking. Additional charges may apply for:

  • Travel beyond the included mileage (see Services page).
  • Printing documents on-site ($1 per page).
  • Additional notarizations beyond the number estimated at booking ($10 per additional notarization, unless otherwise agreed).
  • Wait time beyond 15 minutes at the signing location.

Payment methods: Individuals and families pay with cash or Zelle to bigE@bigEnotary.com. Business clients, title companies, and signing services are invoiced after the signing (net 15 days unless otherwise agreed).

5. Errors and Corrections

Big E Notary strives for accuracy on every transaction. If an error is made that is attributable to Big E Notary, we will return to correct it at no additional charge as promptly as possible. Errors caused by incorrect information provided by the client, signer, or requesting party are not covered under this commitment.

6. Limitation of Liability

Big E Notary's liability for any claim arising from services rendered is limited to the fees paid for the specific signing in question. We are not liable for consequential, incidental, or indirect damages, including delays in a real estate transaction or document rejection by a third party, except where prohibited by law.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

7. Website Use

The content on www.bigenotary.com is provided for general informational purposes only. While we strive to keep information accurate and up to date, we make no warranties about the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of website content.

You may not use this website to:

  • Collect or harvest personal information about other users.
  • Transmit spam, malware, or any harmful content.
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, and design — is owned by or licensed to Big E Notary and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used without written permission.

9. Privacy

Your use of this website and our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be resolved in the courts of Tarrant County, Texas.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
